Augmented Design - Interactive Print / Ideas

BILLBOARD
This example allows the user to scratch along to the music from scanning the qr code with an application. This idea is more interactive than just a qr code link in that you have the element of audio to play around with and alter by moving your hand. The reader will have a longer interest in the advert as he can play around with it rather than just look at something.

This interactive road safety advert is effective and I think it makes an impact on the audience that drive vehicle reminded them to look out for pedestrians. Not knowing whats going to pop up on our phone and witnessing a collision/crash would sure put the reader into that position and make them think, which makes this a successful piece of design.

BMW
The perforated strip of paper that follows the car that rips off as a trail is a really cool interactive element for this bmw leaflet/flyer about cold weather tires. It suits the content of the advert perfectly as if driving in snow there will be a trail and one is left after opening the fold.

Thermo Sensitive Black Varnish
This branding for a photographer is crazy. The thermo sensitive ink reacts to heat and creates a dynamic, ever changing stationary set. Your hands or lips can leave marks on due to the heat. This links well with the idea of photography and that images expose, especially polaroids of which these have been formatted to resemble.

Saxsofunny Sound Posters
The bubblewrap design gets the audience interacting with pressing the buttons of the typewriter because of the texture and ability to pop the bubblewrap. It fits within the context of 'every image has a sound' very well, making it a literal design. The foil paper design it the exact same in that it represents the lightning sound when it's moved or shaken, it would recreate the whiplashing sound. I hadn't seen foil/metallic paper in use before until this.

TESLA
This set of posters I found that advertise tesla have a playful way on using the interactive elements that are incorporated on a lot of augmented design. Tesla is an electronic vehicle that is known for making sound and being energy efficient. These 3 designs play on the aspects of sound, smell and touch by not even including any of those elements in the advertisements.

Other augmented technology / Ideas

What is iBeacon?
iBeacon is Apple’s implementation of Bluetooth low-energy (BLE) wireless technology to create a different way of providing location-based information and services to iPhones and other iOS devices. How does it work?

How does it work?
The beacons themselvers are small, cheap Bluetooth transmitters. Apps installed on your iPhone listen out for the signal transmitted by these beacons and respond accordingly when the phone comes into range. For example, if you pass a beacon in a shop, the retailer’s app (assuming you have it installed) could display a special offer alert for you. On a visit to a museum, the museum’s app would provide information about the closest display, using your distance from beacons placed near exhibits to work out your position.

Initially when reading about iBeacon I thought It could be a potential use for my print campaign. An idea I had was that as I'm promoting my photography website, iBeacon could be used at locations like photography shops where my content is placed, and once someone walks into the store they are notified about the new exposure exhibition and printed leaflet. Then they would pick up the content and check out the website etc. However iBeacon only works with specific apps that are developed for it and I really don't want to be design an app because I feel that people won't bothering downloading them, wasting space on their phone and then interacting with them.

Clickable Paper
I found this image recognition software developed by Ricoh which is similar to layerd & google goggles. check it out below.
Ideas
As I have stuck to my idea I got from my project rationale crit, I've decided to create an exhibition poster, a leaflet explaining how to submit to the competition using the website and advertising new exposure in general and also a magazine advert. I would love to experiment with thermo sensitive ink and use it for the interactive segment of my print campaign as I feel it would link really well with my content and the name of the website. New Exposure being exposed from heat would look really good, however I couldn't find much information when trying to see where I could get designs printed with the ink. Also using image recognition software is something I'm not too keen on but it does fit to my content as It too is image based, I still have to make more decisions and do more thinking on the interactive segment.
