Feathr - Submission

*

My thoughts -
I'm pleased with my final submission. The pattern is well done and is pretty much seamless. I think its an intricate and complex pattern. Offsetting some of the faces to the sides was effective in creating a detailed design. I created a negative version of the design, but I didn't submit it because I don't think many people would want a black wall in their homes and it didn't look as appealing as the original version. I also experimented with filling the eyebrows of the faces, to see if it the faces would become more prominent, however they ended up looking really weird.

Looking at the different presentations for submission on the feathr website. My favourite is the hat stand as it shows more of your design and appears to be a more minimal layout.

Overall I feel that I achieved what I set out to do which was create a seamless pattern out of my illustrations for the feathr wallpaper. Although for a sales standpoint, I don't think that the audience would be overly keen on purchasing wallpaper with morose faces on it. As it's not the most appealing or uplifting, not that wallpaper has to be. Even though the target audience for feathr wallpaper are young people to middle aged people who are interested in creative design. Not everyone wants faces looking at them on their wall. Although I think that they would look good on a section of a wall in a studio.  The best element of the design is the arrangement itself. It's detailed and has depth to it which adds more to it. Another user from the feathr website even commented on my submission and noticed this. The feathr competition creates a good chance for young creatives to gain exposure and receive a vast amount of money, which could be used for an investment that would help benefit your own business. Even if you don't win the competition, peoples designs will be sold and printed for people to purchase and use in their homes. It would be wild to have my design printed and put up in people's rooms. As I completed this task mainly for the purpose of the responsive module, I looked at it as a small project, therefore I only went in with an idea for only one design. If I had more time I would of took a different approach with the design process. I enjoyed incorporating my own illustrative style into the design, but I think I should of branched out more and experimented with a medium or style which was different. I need to tackle different methods of creating illustrations and designs or expand on my own style and tweak it.

On the feathr website they updated the options for presenting work and I changed my submission background to a bedroom.
