OUGD505 - Visual Research / Layout + Editorial Design

As I aim to create a book that will inform others of musical hardware, I'm going to have to design the layout and create a text and image based piece of work. Therefore looking out for Editorial / Layout design was key to help my inspiration and to help influence my design decisions for my book. A few of the examples below do consist of trend driven design but I feel that in particular circumstances it can be pulled off without coming across as too vapid or pointless. There are aspects of trend design that I do look and think actually looks good. Seeing as the modern graphic design field has become over saturated with it and continues to be apart of graphic design, I feel it is important to scout out the new areas of design in order to be able to have the knowledge and idea of how to create your own functioning version of it.

Skateboard blog called desillution, created a skateboard book compiling their interviews and when thinking about the front cover of my book, I immediately thought of this. I couldn't figure out how to get a title imprinted onto bookcrum or a hardbound book cover, however the effect of using an image with a title on and having it stuck in the centre to the front cover is something I felt that would work for mine.
