When it came to do the illustrations for the hardware I had printed off the instruments I researched and wanted to include, then traced sections of them in pen and copied the other details by copying the images. I chose to do them by hand so it would have a consistent hand rendered feel through out the illustrations, I wanted to have wiggly lines and imperfections on each drawing. I thought that when it would come to digitising them that they would each have their own unique qualities.
After scanning them onto my laptop, I edited the brightness and contrast in photoshop. Then opened them in illustrator where I vectorised them. I chose the colours for each selection of hardware by looking at the images of them I had saved on my computer and selecting the colours off of the with the colour picker tool on illustrator. The rgb code from the images was then pasted and filled in on the vectors.
My Book Title
I called my project 'Line Out'. I did this because it relates to music production and is a common term used throughout hardware and software. Having some relevant to music was important in my opinion for this project because it ties in with the content and research.
Final Design
On the whole I am satisfied with how my final illustrations came out, but the design of the layout for the book could be improved a lot and some sections I wanted to include were not done for the final outcome. I would of liked to include detailed introductions to each section of musical hardware. Also I did not have enough time to finalise my hardcover/perfect bound book. But this will be done in my own time, I still need to glue the pages and have it put into bookrum.
