Secret 7 - Development / Foiling

Foiling process
I went to Blenheim print room to do my foiling. I had never been before so I had to get accustomed to the routine and process of using their facilities. The screens use different chemicals to vernon street. It is also told to wear protective garments when using the chemicals.

I wanted to use gold because I thought that it would look sleek and give a good shine on the white sleeve. And gold is a colour I haven't really tampered with in the course. I've always wanted to use gold ink or foil.

Final Thoughts on foiling
The final outcome was not as crisp, clean as I thought it would turn out. I think I slightly misperceived what foiling actually was because I wasn't too familiar with the process. But I don't think it's the most effective. Screen printing with gold ink or gold spot varnish may have been better. The secret 7 cover isn't the best surface. Still pleased with how it turned out. The texture is adds something to the design. The process involved making this was similar to actual screen printing but you're using glue instead of ink. Then after using the screen, I place the gold foil over the top of the glue and put it into the heat press and clamp it down for 15 seconds. After that you peeled off the foil and the gold is left stuck to the glue, creating your design.
