People suggested to use analog typography when giving me feedback. I wanted to use hand rendered type too, as I feel it makes the project leaflet more personal. I also incorporate hand rendered type into some projects too as I feel it brings more interesting effects and aesthetics into play as they are hand done. It allows for more original artwork/design to be made.
Here I used acrylic inks in my sketchbook to paint out the headings and main points for the content of my design process, I also painted out the title too.
For Content I decided to use 6 headings, that fits into the parts of the angled envelope fold.

Also my process involves other aspects that aren't directly associated with producing design work. I wanted to make the leaflet more about my process than a general design one. After all it's meant to be our own processes and our own take on them. My process does unfortunately involve; procrastinating, wasting time online and getting no sleep. Therefore I also painted out those words in acrylic ink too. These words are involved in my process even though I wish they weren't, it's just part of my process at this moment in time. I need to work on my time management to help stop my procrastination and time wasting. Making lists does actually help me a lot to get things clear in my head and drawing faces is just a habit, not necessarily a bad one.

When scanning I dragged the words for the title a bit so it would elongate them and add a stretched effect to them.
I scanned them in, increased the brightness & contrast and then turned them into pngs.
I also straightened the words so they are more legible and made placing them easier in the design.
After sorting out the hand rendered type I created my templates for the leaflet fold on illustrator. To create the templates I measured my previous folds and used the rulers on illustrator to mark the points/measurements for me to draw lines. I had to create 3 templates. Two for the one fold, the outside and inside of the folded leaflet. The other template was for the leaflet cover which has my drawing on it. The cover template was very simple to make as It's not tilted or angled, it was pretty straight forward. Figuring out where to place the title on each part of the template and how much of the title needs to be hidden away and shown for each of the 4 placements got very confusing.
I started with the beginning of the process at the top right and then it goes clockwise and ends at the top. After I had arranged all the analog type in the template I began writing descriptions for each of my stages in the design process. The centre of the design consists of my habits and other involvements of the process. I tried to make use of the space, the best I could. The centre type was arranged in many ways, I wanted to fill up the whole of the centre with type but realised it would look clustered and cover too much of the face print. I changed the sizes of the type so many times and arranged the angles of the words and eventually was satisfied with it's positioning.
Test print of one my faces on the cover fold
Here are a couple drafts of my designs so far, I'm happy with the content and face print inside the leaflet. However aligning the title on the front of the folds proved to be difficult. I had to use test prints and then go back to illustrator to nudge sections of the title into place. Although every time I adjust time title, print it out and fold it again, the title doesn't fit together perfectly and it's really bugging me.
Above are a couple tests after re-aligning the title again, A little improvement has been made.I still need to make more adjustments to these designs. I'm not completely satisfied with the alignment.
