A Brief History of...Web - Digital Mockups & Final Crit

Digital Mockups
Dimensions: 1280 x 1024
When creating the mockups digitally I chose to design them in the dimensions of 1280 x 1024 as I felt that it gave me a good amount of room to work with which complimented my square grid, I didn't like the look of designing in a widescreen format. Below is a screenshot of my grid being used in InDesign.
Home page with logo
The about page is just a single page with an introduction to the site
Blog page with different photographic formats in a endless vertical scroll
Photographers selection page with Image links that show the names when hovered on.
Photographer page with introduction and image content. Images are seen by scrolling sideways, the rest of the page stays in the same place. A link to the photographers website is also included too.

Interview page is a mixture of words and text and would be different each interview.
Submit section allowing the user to fill out the correct information and upload their images.

The Crit
In the crit people mentioned that the halftone I used for the logo could also be used on the website links. Someone said that it could be animated to blend into halftone once highlighted or clicked on.
It was also suggested that the links could be made smaller and the logo made larger to allow for more balance with the placement of them.

Overall the crit went quite well, people commented on how I had succeeded in creating a minimal website with a layout that didn't draw away from the main content, which is the images/photography. They liked that I limited the use of colour which also allows the user to focus on the content.

Response to feedback
I listened to the feedback I had received and decided to change the sizes of the links and position them better. I made them fit within the grid better and I also added more social media icons as 2 buttons looked a bit silly. I had forgotten to insert a submit button on the submission page so I went back and created one too.
