OUGD406 - Studio Brief 4 - Speaking From Experience - Interim Crit / Photography

Today we had our interim crit. We got into small groups and discussed each others ideas and looked at what people had produced so far.

My Idea for 'Speaking From Experience'

An advice zine / photography booklet with information and advice on:

The LCA (BA) Graphic Design Course (blogging / time management etc)
Student Living
The City; Creative Places / Stores
Night Life; Recommendations

My idea was also to implement Analog Typography for the headers and titles of the zine too, with paint or felt tip as I feel it would create a more appealing visual aesthetic and make it more personal. The booklet would also incorporate my own photography, of which I had taken from around leeds. With my photos compiled into a zine / photo book format, the advice on the course and leeds itself as a city would be written in a tone of voice similar to my own as there would be my own opinions, but also informative.

I thought this concept would be appealing to new students as it would be something simple and easy to take in. The format of it showcasing photography imagery within some pages would make it attractive too. I've made this brief to fit within my interests, which makes it more enjoyable and exciting to create something out of it.

Feedback in groups.  They liked the idea, thought that it should be more personal and gather advice and quotes from other individuals / students.
