OUGD404 - Colour matching

We were asked to bring in 15-20 items of a single colour that was assigned beforehand. I was given the colour orange. We then arranged these colours into a colour wheel based on Johannes Itten's.

Pantone Colour Values
The pantone colour match system uses a standardises set of colours which is used for identifying specific colours. We used pantone colour match books to find the codes for the items in orange. We were asked to use them to fine; The lightest, the darkest, the most orange, the most yellow and the most red.

Darkest - 1655C

Most Orange - 144M

Most Yellow - 1365C

Pantone 130 M

Most red - Warm Red M

We did the same process in the dark, because the change in light should effect both the objects and pantone book equally, so we should have resulted in having the same pantones for each of the objects. However when doing this several of the objects had been placed elsewhere and couldn't be found, but we attempted it with the remaining items.

Most Yellow - 136C

Most Orange - 151 U

Neither of the matches we made in the dark were the same as before, although it was considerably harder to see the colour, especially neon or reflective surface as they appear different in darkness. The neon surface almost appeared as a brighter colour in the dark.
