CITY SLICKER
My final booklet.
Here are the double page spreads.
For the pages of the booklet I used an Antique off white paper, which I think looks really good with the photographs and courier font. It's a clean and simple aesthetic. For the cover I used white card, which makes the title and photograph stand out better. I even tried the cover on an antique off white colour and it wasn't as effective.
Overall I am pleased with how the advice/photographic zine has turned out. I think that next years first year students can benefit from the content inside. It's simple, informative and not too much of a read. The format of it being a photographic booklet also makes it more appealing to flick through the pages and carry on reading. Unfortunately I couldn't make it to attend the final crit. However I asked many other peers from my class and they have said that they feel that the format is appealing and works as an informative zine and photography booklet. Elliot and Maurice also said that I should of made the double page image spread of the flats to be placed in the middle of the booklet so it was perfectly matched up and had no fold from another piece of paper. I agree with what they said, it would of made the image a lot of nicer within the booklet, but they also said it still worked with the 'Night Vibes' page being in the middle. I had structured the zine with pages with just photos after every 2 or 3 pages with text, so it broke up the booklet a bit and created a better flow.
I have learnt a lot within indesign thanks to this project. Page numbering, master pages, duplex printing and placement/layout in general. My skills have enhanced and It has been very beneficial for future usage on Indesign. The problems I faced with this brief have also made me become more familiar with methods of binding, printing and image placement. Speaking From Experience has also made me more accustomed to the city of leeds as well, it's given me the opportunity to learn more about it with information that I wish I had known already and I think that first years that could read this booklet, would benefit a lot from knowing about the places in leeds that are inside. When I started I was finding it hard to find out about some creative places and interesting places to go out on a evening out.
